Artificial Intelligence (AI) is what makes today's technology of robotics. AI is an intelligence demonstrates by machines or software. A biologist from University of California, Berkeley, Robert Full and his colleagues created a robot that resembles cockroaches named CRAM (Compressible Robot with Articulated Mechanisms).
CRAM will be capable to scuttle through small spaces or cracks for rescue purposes. This robot is inspired by cockroaches because of the insects capability of slipping through narrow slits (3 millimeters). Cockroaches are able to move between narrow space by splaying its legs to the side and compressing its abdomen to half of its size.
The design of the robot is about a palm-size with plastic shell and soft legs that can splay outward. CRAM's main purpose is for rescue of victims in collapsed buildings and similar cases.
