Usually in managing a palm oil, workers need to inspect the pollinated palm process by manually climb palm trees and walk across palm plantation. This method is time consuming and dangerous. There is a new technology that has been used by few palm oil producers in Malaysia. The new technology is using a automation and robotics by using Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
UAV is an aircraft technology without pilot on board. It is control by remote control by pilot on the ground or flying according to pre-programmed flights plans. UAV is usually used for military purposes. However, UAV can be used in plantation sector to reduce number of workers, increase efficiency, and reduce time in managing plantation.

The UAV will fly up to 12 meters to examine the condition of oil palm. Workers will control the UAV from the ground and this will be more safe as workers don't have to climb trees anymore. The image captured by UAV will be used to oversee the condition of oil palm trees in all plantation. Workers will know and can plan ahead which section of palm plantation needs pest control, more fertilizers, and when to fertilize. All of this will be helpful in planning of cost and plantation process.
